C.O.M.B.O. Speeds

C.O.M.B.O. Buttons and Extensions have three different speed options, each interchangeable, that allow you to choose what best fits your playstyle.

What is Speed?

Before delving into the finer details of the C.O.M.B.O. Speed options, it is important to understand the basic terminology that will be used.

Actuation Point

This is the position of the button press where the internal switch activates and starts sending a signal to the game. Typically, this is defined by the distance a button press travels to get to that position.

Below is an example of a 1.0mm Actuation Point.

Full Press

This is the position of the button press where the button cannot move any further. Usually the Full Press is shown by the distance the button travels in order get to that position.

Below is an example of a 2.0mm Full Press.

Active Press

This is the portion of the button press where the switch is active. This means the Active Press is any portion of the button press that sends an output.

The Active Press is between the Actuation Point and the Full Press. Sometimes the Active Press is described in terms of the distance from the Actuation Point to the Full Press.

Below is an example of a 1.0mm Active Press - that starts at the 1.0 Actuation Point and ends at the 2.0 Full Press.

Speed Options

One important factor to the Speed options is the Actuation Point - determining how quickly the button will send an output. C.O.M.B.O.s have three different Plunger options.

CLASSIC

1.0mm Actuation Point

You can indicate a CLASSIC plunger by the three (3) dots on the bottom (see image below).

SUPER

0.5mm Actuation Point

You can indicate a SUPER plunger by the two (2) dots on the bottom.

ULTRA

0.3mm Actuation Point

You can indicate an ULTRA plunger by the one (1) dot on the bottom.

Why are Speed options important?

Understanding the speed options is important for two main reasons: feel and quickness.

Feel

Actuation Point and Full Press distance are important factors in how a button feels. In general, most people simply want to use a button that feels similar to what they are used to or something they feel comfortable with. The speed options of the C.O.M.B.O.s provide you with the opportunity to match the comfort you are used to in a single button.

Faster Is Better

In competition, one factor is greater than the rest: speed. The quicker you can activate your button, the faster your outputs. This is what makes the ULTRA Speed the strongest option.

Optimizers

The second important factor to the Speed options is the Full Press. Simply put, the quicker you can finish a press, the faster you can get to the next press.

That is what the Optimizer helps with. It shortens the Full Press distance of your button, and gives you a silent sound.

For full details, check out our Optimizers blog.

Below is an example of how much shorter a Full Press is with an Optimizer, and how much faster it can be.
